Yes, I was wondering if that sale would have an impact on our 'hope tower'! :)

"In 2011, 64% of Cathays' 6,724 properties were being let.

Of the 18,693 residents aged 16-74, 48% were full-time students and a further 22% were students working part-time."

This change of direction has got to be good news for Cathays surely, maybe we'll get a start on the Hope Street tower in 2017! and the one at Herbert Street also with a bit of luck. Actually 2017 could prove to be very eventful on the Cardiff developments front - could easily surpass 2016 which in itself was pretty busy.

Oh and Happy New Year! to all you contributors and readers of this forum :)

Must be decent odds on Hope St? Charles St sold off plan so to speak, the general trend/need?

Even without Smarts Gov Hub there is a lot to look forward to in 2017. From the Medical Corps Museum that shd start soonish to the release of plans re redevelopment of CAP to the continuation of Central Square it may prove to be very interesting 12 months.

The facades are being retained as Charles St is in a conservation area and to be honest it's the least they can do.

Is this medical museum still happening? I saw this http://www.wyg.com/cardiff-bay-station the other day which is for a completely different development at the same site

Which is an utter farce when you consider that they allowed the Splott buildings to be demolished entirely. Honestly, what value does this add to the scheme?

From the renders, I actually think the retained facade looks quite nice. It will make the restaurants/bars that will eventually occupy the space look that little bit more classy and it gives the scheme a bit of character.

It amused me when they just left the façade that I had to get a picture of it.

The "Big Issue Cymru" sign is left outside their office, a charity who campaigns to get a roof over peoples heads.
Amused me anyway!
