Phew - lots of documents there!! considering what we've had for so long, the area will be quite literally transformed!
and the timeframe is encouraging...

Image

so the first party is the demolition of bus station (well that won't take long!) marland house and car park in 5 months time! then no.1 completed in less than a year - by which time construction of the bbc underway and also plenty more - fingers crossed!!

*glass needle who needs one! ;)

*OK getting carried away there - what about that plot where the temporary library was? :)

yes very exciting indeed, love how all the new streets are thought though. interesting that plot two will have two phases to it. office first, then followed by retail surrounding it.

i suppose after dec 2019, Cardiff central station will then have that new frontage that network rail has suggested and i suppose the demo of Marks and Spencers will happen.

Paul i wanted to add some images from the planning app on here, but it wont allow me to do it, maybe you could be so kind to put them up instead for me please. since i noticed you managed to do it with the phasing plan.

It's a shame we have to wait nearly 3 years before we see the demolition of St David's House!

Totally agree - I blame tescos!!

But at least that isn't stopping the 2 plots behind getting underway, having said that it will be great to see St David's House demolished - with you all the way on that one!! Just looking forward to june this year now - when marland house, multi storey and bus station or should i say shelters! are razed to the ground, thinking of applying for a job with cuddy just to be a part of it!! :)

It's a shame we don't have Euro 2020 to show this off too but after scanning through the planning documents yesterday, I'm very optimistic about this scheme and timeframe with hopefully the Network Rail plan going ahead as well, north of Cardiff Central will finally be done*

Just a case of sorting out Callaghan Square and finding somewhere for the Conference Centre/Indoor Arena now!

*Finally not be an eyesore, nothing is ever final in a City as they constantly evolve and develope

I'd prefer St.David's house remained until they are actually planning on doing something with it. It's bad enough we've had empty space from demolished buildings for all these years on the current Number 1 site, the old Western Mail printing buildings and the old bus station building. It's all made for a pretty run down looking part of town. Let's get all those filled first, plus of course the new bus station going up.

What I'm interested in is their proposed timescales - are they realistic ?

We've obviously got plot 1 on the go at the moment with one tenant lined up for part of that space, likewise the BBC going at plot 3 (although not fully signed off yet), but there are planned offices at plots 2, 10, 11, 13A all to go up before St.David's house goes anywhere for yet more offices at plots 3 and 5. That's a load of space for Cardiff and with other schemes elsewhere in the city we could do with one or two more Deloitte like announcements this year to help this, Callaghan Square South and the Capital Quarter developments. That and an announcement from one or more of the city's existing employers about relocating.

Fingers crossed, it does look like a really good redevelopment.

What about HMRC from Llanishen - how many employees is that! - just a rumour? but it would perhaps answer a couple of your queries? Still let's face it, in Cardiff development terms until a tower crane is on site, it's just another app! I spent ten years of my life enthusing over one of those and about 6 years another!! But there's a fair few developments proposed within the next 5 years so I'm sure a fair bit will actually happen and it'll keep us busy here!! :)
