The building is run down nad the brick facade doesn't go with the surrounding area. Its thus a bit of an eyesore. But if it was cleaned up and, perhaps, painted to be more in keeping, I agree its not all that bad. The windows are an interesting feature, and it has a certain solidity and simplicity to it.

Why don't you tell us what you really think? ;)

I agree, it's horrid. It looks like an oversized toilet-block. Get rid of it.

"A catering unit is now under offer at the Capitol Centre in Cardiff following the launch of a five screen cinema at the centre earlier this year.

Letting agents EJ Hales has confirmed the latest offer for the unit and said it is hopeful of securing more tenants as a result of the Premiere Cinemas opening in April.

The latest tenant is expected to be named later this year."

Punk panda was very good indeed. The food was excellent, the decor quite quirky although felt a little cheap and the service good enough. The pricing seemed reasonable as well but that would depend on your budget. It's the first in what they hope to be a chain.

My only criticism is that it's a shame it had to take mimosa's unit as having mimosa and punk panda would have been better for MQ overall IMHO

Some news on the restaurant front. Firstly 'Smashburger' are looking at Cardiff as a potential venue for one of their outlets -

Secondly the Real Italian Pizza Company are opening up in Trinity Street, next to the recently revamped Market Tavern

Never heard of either of them. Smashburger would be joining what seems to be a pretty saturated market already. Real Italian Pizza Co will also be up against Pizza Express, Zizzi, Prezzo, Cafe Citta and the proposed pizza restaurant set to open on the ground floor of the Admiral building.

Deli Fuego on City Road is progressing, some internal work going on and the new sign is up.

Anyone know any more about it? Can't find anything online, hope it does well though, think I read something about a wood fired oven. Nice.

Probably old news, but Barbucci's on High Street has closed. They have more legal notices glued to the windows than I have ever seen on a single establishment before.

CONFIRMED!

American burger fast-casual concept Shake Shack is opening its first restaurant outside London at St David’s in Cardiff. The restaurant group has taken a 6,000 sq ft unit at first floor level, close to the entrance to Upper East Side Arcade, Armani Exchange, Prezzo and Pizza Express.

“This is an extremely exciting time for us at Shake Shack, particularly as we deepen our connection to the UK,” said Nigel Sherwood, business director of Shake Shack UK. “This winter we’re bringing two incredible new Shacks to two very different, but very fitting spots in the UK. We plan to ensure that not only is each Shack engrained in its community but also becomes a true gathering spot. As we grow, we will continue to look for outstanding opportunities in major cities.”

Julian Wilkinson, regional director of intu on behalf of the St David’s Partnership, a joint venture between intu and Land Securities said, “Our shoppers will be delighted. Shake Shack is a sought after brand, which will add to the great atmosphere we already have at St David’s. Providing great dining alongside a great shopping experience is what makes the centre one of the best places to visit in Cardiff.”

St David’s Partnership was advised by Jones Lang LaSalle and Cushman & Wakefield.
