Driving back from London today, saw several flat bed lorries with large yellow crane sections heading west.
Is this the "just in time" ethos??

I hope you don't mind me asking a technicalish question... Will a central core rise on this project in the same way as central square number 2 or will the whole development progress floor by floor which seems to happen maybe with slightly shorter developments? I'm wondering as when we observe the way the number 2's core has shot up that will be pretty dramatic for almost twice the height!
Also I'm looking forward to the construction of the tower crane this weekend - I think we will all be pretty impressed by the height of it!

Won't the height of the crane be the same height as the finished tower on hope st. If it goes ahead

Not at all. Yes, the core will rise ahead of the remaining structure, but not as far as No.2 CSq.

Cheers for that - so not as dramatic as number 2, we'll have to wait a little longer than that pretty rapid growth to it's eventual height. Still, following the construction of the crane this weekend I guess we'll see things rising from the ground relatively soon, at least from the central core.

I doubt it. That is 42 storeys tall.

Well I would doubt it also, however according to the newsletter it's to be 130 metres which is just a couple less than the proposed tower in Hope street. I guess it's all to do with how they measure tower crane heights, as it's hard to imagine that the 'cabin' would need to be 50 metres higher than the rest of the building.

I'm assuming that the 130m is to the top of the jib. Looking at the one on CS2, that looks like it must be 200-250ft to the top of the jib, so the one on Charles St is going to be a real big bugger.

Yes, that's right. It's going to be a type of luffer crane, the reason being is that they can reach most parts of the site without oversailing over properties, which you need licences for and that's a ball ache that should be avoided.

At the moment, the plan is that the core is not going to progress much more than 4-5 storeys ahead of the remaining floors at any one time.

Peririannydd, what is the outside of this tower made up of? It looks like copper. And also, what is the height of this tower actually going to be?

Thanks
