Re Vodafone...is that instead of or as well as their store in Cathedral Walk? Looking a bit empty there as it is, and Swarovski will be relocating shortly as well.

VictorClam... jonnywill is on about Newport not Cardiff.. the new Friars Walk shopping centre, which seems to be canibalising a fair bit of the existing Commercial Street traders (I'd be surprised if any of those are new to Newport). Where's FatFace, Superdry, etc?

jonnywill.. probably worth setting up a different topic for Newport related stuff.

But back to St Davids... they talk of "further exciting announcements" soon. Hrm. Oh for something I might shop in!

Apologies... Thought I'd mention it in passing as the centre is opening next week!

Nothing new in terms of St. Davids! Head Records has opened up - spoke to a member of staff in the week and he said it's going to be a permanent store (I was under the impression it was Xmas pop up shop)

News concerning the recently vacated H&M unit...

H&M were hoping to keep hold of that unit until after Christmas to house overstock, however they've been told they need to vacate by Sunday as the new occupiers will be receiving the keys then!

After a number of site visits, Victoria Secret have signed for the old H&M store.

Excluding the area that Michael Kors have acquired, there will be roughly 18,000 Sq Ft of retail space left in that unit. This could very well mean that the Cardiff store will be the largest Victoria Secret property in the brands UK portfolio.

Bristol (11,600 Sq Ft)
Lakeside (11,000 Sq Ft)
Meadowhall (13,000 Sq Ft)
Brent Cross (12,000 St Ft)
Southampton (13,000 Sq Ft)
Trafford (17,000 Sq Ft)
Reading (9,000 Sq Ft)
Liverpool (10,000 Sq Ft)
Bond Street (16,500 Sq Ft)

& yes. I do have too much time on my hands! haha

Ha, Jonny just saw the square footages above. I thought I was a geek when it came to this stuff! ;-) I don't think they do two-storey stores though, so would it only be 9,000 square feet if they just take the one level? (making Cardiff the joint-smallest). Either way, do you have an ETA on Victoria's Secret?

Alba Rose didn't last long... only opened in February or March. I wonder if they were able to find someone to assign their lease to, or whether they set up a separate company for their Cardiff store, so they could renege on their lease, while keeping their other stores open. Either way be interesting to see who takes the unit. I've been surprised that Folli Follie have stayed open so long in that arcade. Never see anyone in there. Unlike Thomas Sabo, which seems to have huge appeal to a certain type of woman: those who like tacky and twee 'charms' (and probably believe in nonsence like horoscopes and homeopathy).
