That looks bloody good to me. It gives me more hope that the other tower will look better than the original renders too!

I actually don't think it impacts on Church Street too much, given it's slim appearance from that angle. How tall is this? It looks like it could be pushing 80-90m?

This part of the city seems to be going quite tall now if all these proposals go through. If the Rapport site directly opposite eventually gets a tall then it will feel like a proper high density city in that area. Especially with Admiral and Watkin Jones in very close proximity.

Also, great news on the "Hope Tower"! Cardiff will feel like a very different place in 2020. Hopefully for the better!

Yeah, clearly what happens to Rapport is very important. Its in the Enterprise Zone so has to be a potential location for an office-led potentially mixed use development. Might Admiral need additional space at some point in the future? Might it be attractive to a range of professional services firms that support the insurance industry in Cardiff?

At some point I do hope the site is redeveloped. I find it a bit of an eyesore to be honest. I don't think we'd necessarily need something too high rise here. And I would hope there would be some open space - it is a pretty big site when you include the car park behind. But a nice mid rise with some kind of court yard or square could be nice.

42 storeys/ 'kinell, where did that come from

Incidentally, I don't mind the Church Street proposal, i quite like it and it does fit in nicely with Engelhardt Towers.

Looks like Brunel House's younger but better looking brother. I like it. The view from Queen Street platform 4 will look very nice indeed!

That's pretty decent actually. Although I love tall buildings I was a bIt concerned about the location of this one but it somehow looks alright there.

I wish someone would come in for that Rapport site, surely it's just a matter of time?

...and I'm pretending I didn't read anything about any 42 floor buildings until they get planning permission approved.

We've got a handful of towers above 20 floors in the planning system now, there must be four of five going up in the next five years if they all work out....but a 42 floor one...really?

I think 84 metres was mentioned - which is taller than anything we've got at the moment. Indeed Capital Towers days as Cardiff's tallest are hopefully numbered! Potentially it could go down to 4th place having held the 'title' since it was built in 1970. Forgetting the ISV where nothing is looking likely to happen particularly soon - if at all  So we could have 'Hope Tower' weighing in at a skyscraping (in Cardiff terms) height of 135m, followed by that one on Scott Road, part of Central Square development, a very respectable 90m and then this Charles Street tower at 84m. Oh and what if JR Smart enters 'the race' and comes up with a real gem on that land they've just purchased (no fit state circus). On the other hand a decade from now we may still be wondering if anything will ever be built taller than Capital Tower!! Oh well I shan't get too carried away until I see some serious tower cranes at these sites - which may be more than half a year off at the very earliest :|

I wouldn't get your hopes up paul. We've been here before where the city has towers lined up all over the place. None of them happened.
