Queen Street is trending on Twitter across the UK – but not for a good reason. :(

Savills are marketing the redevelopment of merchant place in the bay. I can't see any info on their website but saw an advert in the free around town magazine

Following on from philnpt's post on the Central Sq forum I had a poke around on the Holder Mathias site and stumbled across these plans for Church Street, not sure if they have been posted previously...

Interesting there is a small Cinema in the plan!

Its definitely better than whats there, but i think something a bit more historical looking would be better with upper storey sash windows to compliment to village / historic image of this street and area. I dont know how succesfula cinema would be there though?

I think this is the planning application for the above development.

Apparently not very successful: it has been removed from the plans according to the D&A statement for that planning application.

The cinema they showed only had 2 screens - which suggests they were targetting an operator like "Picturehouse": https://www.picturehouses.com/cinemas.

But with the Chapter playing something of that role in Cardiff, and the 4 other cinemas in the city - which since the arrival of Premiere are now charging quite a bit less than in most cities - it seems they couldn't make the numbers add up.

Instead, there are now proposals for a roof terrace, behind a sort of 'fake' pitched roof. Not sure why they still have the pretence of an extra floor - I woulda thought views from the roof terrace to the street and church would be nice.

I noticed the Central market has been revealed after a spruce up!

It looks great, shame about the Paddy Power signage.
