Looks like St Mary Street and Queen Street are finally getting the Hayes treatment! :D

It's a shame about all the low quality chip shop and bookie signage throughout the street though. I suppose not much can be done about this.

I saw it lunchtime and thought the same thing. It's great to see it looking like that.

Another development plan by the wru

Phew at last mention of a bright future for this superb building! (well I'm assuming a bit there as they are not giving much away). Owning the land 'next door' could be a major factor in future plans. Whatever happens this building should be a jewel in the crown of westgate street (just a shame about the other side of the road!! grim grim grim). Whenever I walk past I always think what a shame that it is empty, I just think that it should be something 'up market' be that a top notch restaurant (well lower floors) or hotel or even if it was residential. Anyway as Central Square starts to really take shape over the next couple of years hopefully there will be more of a focus on this gem and it will return to, and perhaps exceed former glory :)

The article doesn't even say who the proposed developers are - it might be helpful to know what their track record is with old buildings if they are proposing big changes. But I don't think it's reasonable to argue that nothing's needed in the Bay but more flats.
