Central Square

One Central Square was given planning permission by the Council Yesterday (subject to a number of conditions as is usually the case)

No mention of an expected start date just yet...
Some days you are the pigeon and some days you are the statue...

About 5 weeks ago didn't they hope to be on site in 6 weeks which is roughly next week?
It will be so good to see work underway, surely the catalyst for the whole of the embarrassing central square area.

Some 'gardening' was being done there the other day - hopefully tidying up the site in preparation...

I would think they'll start soon, and we should see a planning app appear for number 2 as well.

It's great to finally see a start on something at that site, let alone a nice office. It's a shame we didn't get the tower but an empty site right next to our main railway station and the Millennium Stadium being empty for so long hasn't exactly painted a good picture of our city.

What I like from the article is that they are talking about it being ready for occupation next November so we should see plenty of quick progress over the next few months.

Nice to hear that planning permission for number two is being submitted in the autumn. I thought it was meant to be the summer ? Still, that's only a few months away.

The link to Blake Morgan is no more than them considering the site together with other sites at the moment. Hopefully they'll take space there as it'll spur on the whole project.

On top of that it was good to hear a bit more about PWC considering the city for a back office function. Obviously Cardiff is up against other cities but hopefully the enterprize zone benefits might draw them to the city.

As well as the usual suspects being mentioned looking for space I can't remember Cardiff University's school of journalism being mentioned before.

That wasteland photo reminded me of another famous one from the 80's:

Trying to fathom out whether it will be more of a help or hinderance to have the new bus station south of the rail line, with respect to the pre-existing stickiness of the traffic trying to get from one side to the other. Personally I think a decision which will involve the demolition of Marland House and the NCP car park will make me too happy to contain myself!
