Which building would that be in the vision below?

Looking good anyhow and with Central Station possibly being redeveloped by Network Rail and Callaghan Square and the Capital Quarter being stimulated by WAG, it's going to be a good time to be a development geek in Cardiff in the next 5-10 years :ugeek: Slightly OT but should the Council HQ be the site of the Convention Centre and Indoor Arena, where would Cardiff Council most likely relocate too? That would be another couple hundred thousand square feet required!

@TUO

if the council were to move and the convention centre be located at Goodway Plaza aka Atlantic Wharf, then it would be essential that there was a direct bay/central/bus station link for it to work effectively. I can't see the existing route being viable in that respect. it wouldn't bode well or create a great impression of the city for delegates and visitors.

but yes, I share your enthusiasm, it appears that South Wales and Cardiff are going to have some major transformational projects in infrastructure and commercial offering over the next 10 years. This time I also think that we will see most if not all. Given the rise in nationalism (in Scotland at least), I can't see any Westminster government vetoing NR's plans for Cardiff and also they have to ensure that the Valleys is electrified.

***this bit isn't directly related to the thread so don't read if easily offended***

Basically, the Valleys helped fuel the Empire and brought plenty of riches to the UK as a whole, now it is time for the UK to help get the valleys back on its feet. Petty politics and grandstanding about which government gets to spend our taxpayers money should be the last thing on our mind. This is a chance for the Conservatives to be the party to invest most heavily in Wales for a hundred years and it is also Welsh Labours opportunity to be the party that brings economic growth and prosperity. You'd think either government would want to spend the £500m or so to electrify and take the glory rather than argue the toss over it. The WG should be lobbying hard for borrowing powers to finance this rather than arguing about who said what. I would have no problem paying a 'journey tax' akin to a %age of price over several years if it helped finance such an investment. I digress, I apologise.

It's the relatively small looking building right next to Number 1, so the second building from the left. It's right between Number 1 and the new BBC offices/studios and south of Millennium Plaza.

It makes sense to me for that to be next as you'll have three buildings in a row going up over the next two years (assuming they do actually sign up someone like PWC for Number 2) if you include Number 1, Number 2 and the BBC building.

After that who knows. I guess it depends on plans for the bus station at the current Marland House site and occupier demand for offices, hotels and apartments.

How about a nice big water feature in the square in front of the station? I may start a petition! :)

Great idea, in between the station and the new BBC Studios.

Our own version of the Dubai Fountain ?

Interesting find by reddragon on the "Central Bus Station" topic Image

Plot 6 at 92m tall, would make it Cardiff's tallest building (ignoring the antenna on Stadium house) if it were to be completed before proposed buildings at the ISV site.

Considering they have started plot 1, plans are submitted for plot 2, and the BBC building (plot 3) looks like it will be submitted soon. I wonder if the thought is they would build plot 1 to plot 13b in that order?

and so a new glass needle dream is born!! but for glass needle read... PLOT 6! it's a tall skinny one that for sure. Loving the location for such a building. Still we've known the occasional dissappointment on such matters :| so I guess we'll wait and see - but good up-beat friday stuff all the same :)

I think that'll be earmarked for a hotel, apartment tower or mixed use with both in it. A Cardiff Beetham tower anyone ?

Actually, that plot 6 is near the site, or is the site, for the Jury's hotel development that went nowhere isn't it ?

It makes sense for there to be plans for at least one decent height building in all this, particularly next to Stadium House. It would be a travesty if there wasn't one being earmarked for the scheme.

An interesting thought, that plot as well as plot 7 is empty isn't it ? Nothing holding back any scheme that might be forthcoming if a hotel operator become interested all of a sudden.

Bugger, you lot have got me dreaming of a sleek glass tower now....skyscraper porn !!!!!
