Mr Blue Sky wrote:Tŷ Admiral - which is 11 floors of offices plus a double height ground floor and a double height top floor (so in effect as tall as a fifteen story office block) is 220,000 square feet.

It occupies a site with a footprint roughly 60% the size of the vacant land on Park Street. If the whole of the footprint is built on then I'd estimate that the new building of 270,000 sq ft will be about 9 storeys high - a double height ground floor with seven or eight storeys above.

So no tower I'm afraid.

is Admiral really that big? I didn't know that...but thinking about it that is about 2500 people so it must be.

I thought HMRC wanted something for 5000 people so surely we can expect something considerably bigger. We already know that there are plans for a square so the footprint is going to be restricted somewhat. In which case I'd say something higher than 20 storeys is possible.

of course this is all speculation so we have to wait and see.

I think we can expect something about 10/11 stories given the foot print we've got, mind you the council have a bit of history in pushing for taller buildings, let's hope they do the same with this one as I think it's a good position for a 90m or so tower
And whist we are at it, let's hope they push for a taller one at the capitol shopping centre too

The old WME plot is in Central Square. Pretty much exactly where it's been rumoured to go.

Yup I didnt really know what WME meant and then I realised. So standard then, we will be looking at some sort of 12 storey building if its 280,000sqft?

Sounds about right, maybe up to 18 storeys depending on the design. It should still be of an impressive scale. I'm more interested in Plot F now. A very small plot adjacent to Media Wales that they are proposing could hold 300,000 sq ft of office space. That would be a very tall building indeed.

More details in this previously posted article:

It does appear that the council want a tall building in plot for. Lets hope so...

No, the square is Plot G - in front of Plot E, the HMRC building.
