Have we any idea what the proposed height of this tower will be?

I think its about 83m - if you look at the elevation diagram of the tower it starts at ground level at 8.5metres so that needs to be taken off the height shown at the top. I never quite undertand that bottom figure not being 0 - I'm presuming it's the depth of the piles?

The bottom figure would be AOD which means above ordinance datum, in other words 8.5m above sea level

Looking at the schedule of works...

We will see a lot of activity on site from next month with DCWW drainage works to Saunders Road. Then the main contract commencement in december this year, when piling will commence until march next year.
Then Pile caps and ground beams January 2020 - July 2020
Superstructure Frame Completion for Interchange, November 2020
Office, February 2021
PRS Tower October 2021
Car Park, January 2022
overall completion date is august 2022

So there's going to be plenty to keep an eye on if all goes to plan in the not too distant! but from the above it looks like we won't see a development rising above the hoardings until about a year from now. That said if actual construction starts from july(ish) next year then can we assume that 3 or 4 or 5? tower cranes will be erected by then?

Thanks for extracting that info - when I first heard the completion date was late '22 I wondered how it could take so long, but seeing the detailed schedule makes it clearer. This is probably the heftiest construction project in Cardiff for many years, with 4 different functions on one site.

Good news on the interest being shown in this.

'The planned expansion is being driven by strong occupier interest from a number of sources, including an undisclosed government department and L&G itself for a potential new HQ bringing its current operations in the city under one roof'

and

''There is also understood to be interest from challenger banks. Monzo is creating hundreds of new jobs in the city over the next few years.'

This seems to read as if there's 3 organisations interested in the space, although this implies there are just two

'We are in detailed discussion two potential tenants for our latest office scheme at Central Square.'

Has work got underway on the interchange?

I found this article with the draft documents about the extension, but it looks like they are not submitting it until after the 8th November.

https://www.cardiffinterchange.com/

So was wondering if they are able to start anyway (if footprint the same), or need approval of the changes as it will require a different approach to the development?

There is some earth moving gear in there at the moment that seems to be doing a bit of levelling but no major work looked like it was going on this morning.
