I thought it could be for the public realm improvements, but why a crane. Maybe it’s that structure you alluded to Paul.

The Welsh Government actually occupy space in Southgate House.

Hmmm. Having the flag flying on top of the building is one thing but this looks rather over the top. And will only encourage people to erect enormous Welsh flags too. Is this what we want?

Regardless of your views on independence I don't know any building in London (or indeed the rest of the UK) with such a large display.

And even though it's the offices of a UK department it feels odd to do it in Cardiff. When tourists come off the train in Cardiff Central it would be nice for them to know they're in a different part of the UK....
