There's an Albany Fish Bar opening on chippy lane; where Auntie Anne's used to be.

Nothing yet on the planning portal, this is the only image I can find online.

The rest of the article is behind a pay wall.

Looking at the plans for the demolition of the former Debenhams on the Cardiff Council website and noticed on one of the attached plans it stats 'Proposed JD Sports store' in MSU10 where Sports Direct is currently located. If that isn't a typo it would appear that JD Sports will take over the Sports Direct who will, presumably, move to that the new Queen Street store if they ever finish it. IIRC Frasers Group, formally Sports Direct, own both brands.

J D Sports isn't owned by Frasers, assume they're just taking over the unit.

Thanks for the info. I just looked it up and it was 15 brands owned by J D Sports they bought not the actual company.

The ground floor of Queens Arcade is being completely gutted at the moment, anyone know why?

No idea, I think they were going to close the lower level so they could concentrate the last remaining units together upstairs, but that was some time ago.

Maybe it's finally going to be demolished for that new development, but not sure why they wouldn't just knock it down if so. At least something is actually happening unlike The Capitol!

Will have a look tomorrow if I can get a train from London, was a massive fail today.

Here is the planning application for the demolition of Debenhams 23/02358/PRNO

Nothing particularly interesting, but I did find that WoL weren't mistaken when they said the building had RAAC panels in the roof. The roof demolition plan does clearly indicate "RAAC PANELS ON ROOF TO BE REMOVED. ROOF SLAB TO BE DEMOLISHED'. Theres no mention of RAAC in the demolition statement of the covering letter though. I can appreciate what they don't want to draw attention to a building material that has become almost as infamous as asbestos or combustable composite cladding, but it does beg the question of where else in the Saint Davids 1 shopping centre has it?

Given that St Davids Hall has to be closed until the roof can be replaced, it doesn't seem unreasonable that landSec should make a clear statement about the presence (or absence) of RAAC in the publicly accessible parts of SD1.
