Can't actually find a list of specific stores on their website though...

While I have sympathy for the employees involved that would free up a very large site for other uses. With the city due to run out of EM secondary school places in 2019 and WM in 2021it could provide a solution to the under-supply of places in the south west of the city.

I wonder what will happen at that location now? I mean if the ISV project was cooking on gas then this site would be central to activity with maybe some ambitious plans for what is a significant area of land on the peninsular. Alas the ISV masterplan seems to have gone very quiet so maybe we can expect a Lidl!!

The site is much too large for a Lidl or an Aldi! If you include the car park it's huge!

It could easily house a secondary school or (perish the thought in Cardiff Bay) a large non high-rise housing development. I can't think of any 'big box' retailers that might want to go there. That side of the PDR seems a bit of a dead zone for retail judging by how empty Morrisons tends to be.

The whole area is a bit of a dead zone. Very limited transport links too.

I'm not even sure what I'd like to see there even if it could be anything. More housing I suppose (non-student).

I know it's a crazy notion, but how about some sports facilities? Velodrome and cycling centre would be ace, Tennis centre? driving range? gymnastics cente? all firmly in the realms of fantasy I suppose.

A seconday school isn't a bad idea, this side of Cardiff badly needs one, but I'd rather it was somewhat more central to Grangetown, the old gasworks by Ikea perhaps? A school somewhere would, presumably, help demand for housing in the ISV as well, at the moment flats sell well enough but family houses really struggle.

I'd like to see a racquet sport complex or velodrome down the bay. Would make it that little more bit more worthy of being a Sports Village.

This might be a little bit radical, I know, but perhaps a "sports village" should provide some open, attractive public space where children and adults can play sport for free?

Yes that's a little extreme!!

There's as much land as this complete plot to the side of it also, so maybe if we do get something ambitious it'll be for all that land? Bayscape when fully up and running will offer a few more options to the ISV visitor with retail/restaurant and generally make it more of a varied destination on the tourism map. I would love to hear that the Ski slope was back in the plans - maybe the plot we're discussing could then be an alpine village!!! :)
