I've been nosing through some Queen Street planning applications and it would seem that a few of the occupiers are trying to increase the rentability of their units by applying for alterations.

- The unit previously occupied by Bank Fashion is applying for change of use from A1 to A3. I wonder whether they already have a Food & Drink tenant in line?

- The three ground floor units beneath Dominions House have been granted planning permission to change the front elevations! I hadn't realised how shoddy these units look! They're going for the full glass frontage look, which hopefully will attract a higher calibre of tenant. The CGI of the changes looks fairly good.

Sorry about that mate...

Hopefully you'll be able to see all the related documents if you follow this link? It takes you to the general application.

Dominions House is going to be a hotel isn't it, so I can see why they'd want to scrub up any retail units on the ground floor that they are retaining.

The new HMV store design will certainly give a new lease of life to this area of Queen Street! Looks good...

Surely that's just a proposal in order to show the potential for the unit, rather than how it will definitely look?

Looks like Wilko are taking over the HMV unit on Queen Street. I'm glad that a new tenant has been found quickly for such a big unit but it's further evidence that Queen Street is attracting the more 'value' retailers.

The wig shop in High Street arcade (where it meets Duke St arcade) has shut down. Also Eccentrix - the shoe shop in High Street Arcade are having a closing down sale. This is the shop that sells all manner of crazy looking footwear and has been in the arcade for at least 25 years. Not sure if it's re-locating but if it does go it will be a shame to lose an independent.

Clive Ranger are also relocating - according to a sign in their window. They have been in the Castle Arcade for at least 30 years - anyone know where they are going?
