Following on from discussion on the Dolffin Quay thread, I decided to get in touch with Igloo asking if there were likely to be any updates on Porth Teigr. Now I appreciate they probably cannot say much due to commercial sensitivites, but there wasn't even any "we're looking at a lot of exciting opportunities and there is significant interest in Porth Teigr" generalities. Instead the reply focused on their community outreach/sponsorship work:

"You seem to be up to date with the latest news on Porth Teigr, although we are also providing support via the Porth Teigr Community Fund to cycling charity Pedal Power https://www.cardiffpedalpower.org/, The Wallich homelessness charity https://thewallich.com/?gclid=Cj0KEQjwn ... AsyT8P8HAQ, the forthcoming Butetown Carnival https://allevents.in/cardiff/butetown-c ... 3846760156, the WMC's production Tiger Bay The Musical https://www.wmc.org.uk/Productions/2017 ... /TigerBay/ and also a "phygital" event (details attached)."

Not entirely what to make of this. Does it mean it really is all quiet on the development front? Or is the fact they are continuing to do this sort of thing part of the PR for a scheme that will be bringing plans forward?

That's either an automated response or a huge swerve of your question. I wouldn't be surprised if they're just sitting on the land waiting for a developer with deeper pockets to buy them out.

I called Savills because I was hoping to buy one of their flats this year (it still says 2017 on the Porth Teigr website). They said that the project (at least the residential aspect) is in limbo and the masterplan is being resubmitted to planning. They said nothing would be happening this year and they weren't sure about next year. It's sad because there aren't really any other sustainable projects like this going on in Cardiff. :-(

I wonder?

I've not read anything about that project for ages now.

Whatever happened to

It frustrates me a bit. Gloworks is a lovely building but needs other similar buildings around it. It just looks like failed project at the moment. Surely there's a market for at least one other similar building with the way the creative/tech sectors are growing.

Its not the Navy building - thats part of the docks itself. Could it be to do with the bay beach, which is moving over this way?
