Has anyone seen the latest planning apps? It looks like there is a serious proposal to put a tower on this site! It is only at feasibility stage - but 35 storeys is mentioned!

Student accommodation in the region of 500 bedspaces. Also says that it may even go higher than 35 storeys, but may also go lower.

What's the application reference ? I think I'm looking in the wrong place as I can't see it.

I like the sound of this. Hopefully it's realistic!

If this goes through, we could up with a genuine cluster of high-rise buildings, which is something not many cities in the UK have. Some have tall buildings dotted around but not in any sort of order, like Birmingham.

It'll be good to see an actual render of the tower, and I'd love to see a 25-35 floor building there. It would be quite nice next to the Radisson and we have another couple of 20odd floor buildings to go up in that vacinity with the JR Smart buildings.

Whether the city needs yet another 500 or so student housing places or not I don't know, this is yet another relatively large block of accomodation for students to add to the many other proposals and I can't see all of them coming off. I hope I'm wrong and I guess it's going to be a case of who knocks these buildings up first, unless demand from the various Universities in the city keeps growing.

Now that would be a very slim building! It'll be interesting if we hear more on this one. If it was to be built, together with some other proposed buildings in the vicinity then the first time train visitor to cardiff will feel they are arriving in a pretty hi-rise city! Mind you I suppose we'd better see it first coz a 35 storey anorexic ty pont heaern would be a scary prospect!!
