To put it simply, Bristol has always had an 'unofficial height limit', where developments which were about as tall as St. Mary Redcliffe (which is a beautiful Church - definitely worth a visit) and above that height, would get declined pretty much automatically.

Since 2016 new policies have been proposed to support high-quality tall buildings, supported by the mayor and cabinet members.

Since this change we've seen 3 'tall' buildings proposed in one year, the most in Bristol's history.

All of which adds up to Urbano being wrong and making stuff up, which was the point I was trying to make too many posts ago.

No. I'm right. You're wrong. Go there . And read this http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/busin ... rfed-18432

"Oh mate give it a rest, will you? You could have contributed nicely, like Mr Blue Sky".

Oh mate. Do you want me to say you're wrong in a more roundabout (“nice”)way? Happy to oblige.

I do not want to get into personal arguments here ( which is not to say I shy away from strongly held personal views) . I said that Bristol has turned its back on high rise. I will leave it to others to decide if that is consistent with Jantra's accurate and marvellously succinct summary of the actual position in Bristol, i.e.....

“So prior to 2016, Bristol turned its back on tall developments but since then has had a change of heart (but nothing yet has been built under this new policy)

This thread is getting boring now. Can we have a separate one for Cardiff/Bristol comparison arguments and leave this one for the original subject?

It actually supports URBANO's position. Pre 2016 the council turned its back on height, there is a new policy, but until that policy bears fruit, it's all candyfloss

I can't see to upload the image on this article but it does show that this tower is one of the biggest proposed currently in the UK. Also somewhat in line with the off topic nature of this thread.
