Are we any closer to knowing if this is going ahead or has any work started at the site

It's going ahead. I believe the work is to begin in April, completion date is late 2021. There is a schedule somewhere on the planning website.

Here is the link to the plans

The reatain wall I believe refers to the steel bars placed along the railway wall which looks like it was completed ahead of shedual. If that’s the case it looks like piling will begin in a few weeks.

I really like the design of the tower and the dark colouring of the panelling, it's really unusual.

I hope it's doesn't end up not looking much like the CGIs like Bridge Street though.

I cannot open the link but if it’s the construction programme that it refers to then the retaining wall certainly isn’t done - it refers to “143no 750 diameter” which means there are 750mm diameter piles to be installed by a piling rig and there hasn’t been one on site yet. There has been some kind of delay as they look nearly two months behind that programme.

:) I like it!

but seriously folks...
I wonder when we are likely to see any actual construction on site? I hoped that it would immediately follow the hoardings and site set-up. Now I would always expect for this to be the case with the start of a new development, but even more so in this case as the 'construction' site has changed the road layout and pedestrian routes. I mean that is obviously required - but not for a construction site with no construction?

Does anyone have any updated info out there....

This development is in doubt!! :| I don't know if it's common knowledge but I've heard (I'd rather not mention from where) that there are big doubts about it proceeding as student accommodation. Perhaps it'll proceed for another purpose? but we are not likely to see any work on site until maybe as long as next year. Hopefully this could all change if the Bridge St tower is a great success.
Personally I'm gutted! as at last this was a building of some decent height and I'm sure quality, which would have been a superb addition to our skyline (and hopefully still will be). I have felt this disappointed since the glass needle bit the dust :|
