No, it's the first phase, an office block of around 8-9 floors. The tower just has outline planning permission at the moment I think.

I've been following the progress photos on this job and from those, it's difficult to see that progress is being made. I'm wondering if there's a problem, perhaps with sourcing the cladding.

This has become a serious issue across the UK:

Anybody have any news? I would hate for JRSmart to get into financial trouble as I really want to see them finish the whole John St project.

There was speculation (either on here or on Skyscrapercity, can't remember) that the project has been temporarily mothballed due to lack of demand for office space at present. Can't say I've seen many (if any) workers on site when cycling past recently.

I wouldn't be at all surprised, although it seems a bit odd that they started fixing the steel at the top of the building. It would have made more sense (if they were going to mothball the building) to just stop upon the completion of the RC frame.

That’s why I wonder if there’s an issue with cladding. I do know a lot of sites are coming to halt because there’s a problem with supply.

I walked past yesterday. Workmen in three big holes in the access road and a strong smell of gas. The lift on the outside was going up and down but no sign of work going on.

Some good news on this development here: https://www.business-live.co.uk/commercial-property/new-ten-storey-office-scheme-20928374

Also great to see there is still interest in filling offices, although seeing some of those speculative deals turning in to reality is still to be seen.

Hopefully they'll strat finishing it soon then - still a lot of work to be done on that shell of a structure. Also no mention of the more substantial tower - next door! But certainly some positive words being spoken :)
