Good news, hopefully it will go ahead quite quickly, though i think the tower is not going to start immediately.

It'll be interesting to see if they start within the next 12 months, depends on if they get a tenant for the hotel and offices beneath I guess.

The tower and the office below it are meant to be phase 1, with the smaller office building coming afterwards I think.

At the moment the site is occupied with the railway works anyway.

The DAS talks about "client brief" for the hotel and the two office buildings. Now it could just be talking about JR Smart, them being the client of the architect. But might it also suggest they have someone tentatively lined up? There was also the news from Russell Goodway that they may have found a tenant for the 100%-office version of the Interchange building. So perhaps they're gunning for the same tenant? (Or alternatively, we have two occupiers looking for circa 250-300k space?!).

The DAS shows views of the future cluster in this part of Cardiff. It will be without parallel in the UK, outside of London, IMHO. Mcr, Brum, Leeds and Liverpool all have impressive high rises but none of those cities will have such a cluster.

With so many new buildings close to the main rail line (including Central Square) the journey into Cardiff by train, from the east, will be quite spectacular

It looks like the smaller of the 2 buildings (more southerly) has the full detailed planning request, with the taller hotel and office building nearer the railway arches going for outline application. Looking at the Hybrid planning application letter.

Of all the buildings currently planned for Cardiff, I think that this will be the most significant as it links up all the surrounding developments and should give Callaghan Square a big boost. Really looking forward to it...
Build it and they will come.
Get it wrong and they will fall off.

It's looking like Carillion may have finished on-site, they've certainly been clearing up the site and appear to be vacating at least.

Hopefully the first bit will get through planning and get started within a few months. I hope they've got tenants lined up at Number 3 and 4 around the corner, it'll give them more of a reason to start this. They are almost done on the cladding on number 3 and number 4 is at around 7 floors now so in a few months it'll also be completed. It's going to be a busy part of town once full with tenants!

It is quite amazing how, in ten short years, Cardiff will have created a burgeoning CBD

Man, the 20 or so people who park their cars on that unmanned road are going to be pissed soon.

It is amazing how quickly it's changed, and how much more is planned in that short space. Can't wait to see the final picture over the next ten years.
