I'm not sure that they got any further than this today...

So can they complete this tomorrow? or will they now have to book another weekend 2-3 weeks away? I thought this would've been up and running today as it seemed pretty windless - I suppose things at 95 metres may get a bit more gusty! This tower crane is proving to be a bit of a challenge and doubtless a big headache for Watkin-Jones.

It just makes me think how they build these 600 meter towers in the US when Wales has trouble with an 80m tower, haha

Easy, they start at a much lower height and then they jack themselves up as the building is erected. They do the same thing in Australia, Middle East and anywhere else where they building seriously tall buildings.

Interesting. As with the next tower crane weekend, would we see a possibility of it going up next week if its not gusty?

The mobile crane is still set up this morning so looks like it will be finished today / tomorrow.

Yes that's great news - it looks like they got an extension of the road closure, judging by the weather this morning hopefully they'll crack it and get this pesky tower crane fully functional by tomorrow! :)

state of play at 9:45am
