The application has been approved. There's a news storey on Watkin Jones' website.

That's great news! so the two tallest buildings in Cardiff in two years time will be this watkins jones tower and the hope street one. So does that mean that we need to see some action soon? Anybody 'in the know' out there, about when we are likely to see any activity at either or both these sites? I love a good render me, but give me a tower crane and I start to believe! ;)

The one on Hope St requires a lot of enabling works with services etc. and approvals from Network Rail (over and above planning), Highways etc. It is progressing but don't expect to see a piling rig for at least another 6 months.

Charles St is a bit behind, but progressing.

Great news about it getting approval.

Regarding the Hope street tower I thought being on-site in June was a bit much to ask. I wonder if this Charles Street one might start first then?

Confirmation of what we know...

Interesting that the cladding may be lightened.

I wonder when we'll see demolition of those buildings which presumably will mean commitment to this project.

All good in my book! :)

“This proposal is completely out of scale to the nearby buildings and the design jars with the historic area,

She's such a blocker on progress in the city centre that it's worrying.

Arent we glad that not all cardiff councellors are as backward thinking as the councellor for Cathays Elizabeth Clark. 'Not inkeeping with the area'... Does she not realise through those rose tinted glasses of hers that the admiral HQ is directly opposite the junction?. If it were for people like this, Cardiff would still be a town of 20,000 inhabitants hoping for a return of the coal industry! Lets get building!
