The cores on both this and Herbert st. will be completed around the same time - this city is shooting up. Also the more I see the cladding the more it actually grows on me. Once the whole thing is kitted out I dont think it will look as bad as we all think.

No, not in Cardiff.

The previous images made the building look bright orange but it's more of a dark muddy red... though it was pretty cloudy today so maybe it'll be more orange in bright sunshine.

Anyone confused at the new white cladding which is visible further up the tower?

Red and white cladding do not go together. Will make this tower look like a pair of Nike Air Max 2005's.

Renders did show white cladding, i think the red panels have a more black appearance, Red white and black look good together though they fell out of favor due tot he Nazis use.

The white cladding sort of makes sense based on the renders, however it will be a much starker effect than the renders suggested. Further, there is clear horizontal banding between the glazing for each floor which again wasn't apparent in the renders. This will have a detrimental effect on the vertical lines.

Overall, regardless of how well the end result turns out, the cladding surely makes a mockery of the planning system. The cladding is THE most important element visually and for it to be so different to what's presented in the planning docs is surely an issue.
