If anything goes in the Wow building it will need a significant investment as the building looks like it's rotting away and heavily infested with vermin. I heard the landlords want to convert the upstairs into flats, which wouldn't be ideal for any bar opening on the ground floor. Although I'm assuming Pulse would put up a fight against any planning application for flats opposite.

I heard from different places that pulse had wanted to open another bar in there but there were a number of issues with the building.
Flats would be a bit daft. It would get like the situation in Soho where people bought flats and then 'discovered' the area was full of bars and objected to the noise. A bit like what's going on now with summer palace.

Posters have gone up this week on the derelict building on Womanby St which is to become Jack Russell's. The poster promises live music, drinks and food, in that order. Hopefully this is a decent addition to Womanby St and they actually get involved with the genuine Cardiff music scene (not generic cover bands and tribute acts). There is now a desperate shortage of grassroots music venues in Cardiff so I'm very cautiously optimistic that this will be good news for the struggling scene.

Such a shame to lose another music venue.

I think that's just churn, to be honest. It doesn't compare to the loss of Gwdi Hw, for instance.

I suspect something similar will crop up somewhere else.

My point was that it was sad news that yet another independent music venue was closing down. Not trying to compare them. We need more of these venues I think. Any news on the new site for Gwdihw?

I'm more annoyed that the Cornish Bakehouse will be closing because of it. I really hope they relocate.
