I went over on Suday and had my first look inside, it definitely feels like a down at heel place but the grandeur is there. I like the rooms but i dont know if i would want to spend the evening in one, seems a bit gloomy and creepy in such a dilapidated building. Also not keen on Shirley Bassey staring down at me at night.

I wonder why this is now coming through after all this time? I notice a S106 Agreement has been signed so perhaps that's what it is. Now, want to start again, and feel able to sign the S106.

The planning application drawings look oh so dated!
With all CGI ones these days its compulsory to have ethnicaly diverse models in the foreground drinking coffee on the go and smiling.

There is a pop up restaurant in Grade "Eleven" listed Corys Builings as Wales only Lies puts it.

"Meat and Greek"

The pop-up restaurant will be at the Grade 11 listed Cory's Building at 57 Bute Street, Cardiff Bay, CF10 5AJ.

How come they can get away with not having a food standards cert displayed? when year round places have to jump through hoops?
More Xmas cherry picking, or should that be olive picking.

This really should be in the general Mermaid Quay thread, not a Coal Exchange one - but in reply to the last post, I don't know about a certificate but the food at the pop-up was gorgeous; if they ever come back I'm going again.

Looks like it was approved today, subject to the usual conditions.

I do think this building and wider area would be better with an alternative use (museum, gallery, or Parliament!). But I do agree with what the council said at the end of the meeting in that this is probably the last chance to do anything with the building that will preserve it and no other credible alternatives have been put forward.

Hopefully it will turn out well. Cardiff really does need to preserve the remnants of Butetown.
