Walked past there today. I was quite impressed by the college building. How the rest of the area will turn out remains a mystery.

Incoherent is the answer to that one, I suspect. There are some decent buildings going up - but there are also some bloody awful ones and there's going to be a pretty nasty gear change when the commercial buildings coming down from the town end meet up with the residential developments creeping up from the bay.

Well they have to meet somewhere! I'm surprised by the amount of new office space being created at the moment. When you consider Central Sq, Capital Quarter and even Dumballs Road you wonder whether the demand will fill it. Personally I wouldn't like to see the city centre extend beyond the immediate south of the A4160. The new development north of the college would be about it for me.

No wonder J R Smart have made a quick start on Number 3 at Capital Quarter, they have some serious competition with this development competing with them for tenants. I hope there's going to be more than one office here as well, the name certainly implies so.

Good to see that this project is apparently doing well commerically. I think it's really encouraging for future developments.

Some interesting notes in this article:
http://www.walesonline.co.uk/business/b ... f-12974100
"And an undisclosed public sector organisation in London has also identified the remainder of the scheme - extending to 36,750 sq ft - for a potential relocation.

It is understood that Cardiff is on a shortlist with Leeds, Birmingham and Coventry to secure the relocation that will bring hundreds of new jobs."

Anyone know what that might be?

I'm guessing the Heritage Lottery Fund, the Food Standards Agency or the Government Digital Service. I'm basing my guesses on the 37,000 sq foot figure, which should accommodate between 300 and 500 workers.

I walked past this development today and was surprised by its quality, given its location. It also really complements the Cardiff and Vale College.

Hopefully British developers are finally realising that if you build real quality, developments won't stay empty for long. Let's leave the shoddy build quality well behind us please.
