Bus station by a whisker!

As I understand it it, S.A Brain's contract brewing for Scottish & Newcastle ends in the new year - essentially making half of the current brewery redundant. The site was always too large for Brains own requirements so I'm guessing demolition can start on part of the site before the new brewery in Ocean Park is up and running.

It's mildly amusing that Brains plan to run a brewery style attraction in what was the HQ of their great rivals, Hancocks/Welsh Brewers. Personally, I think they missed a trick in not including a craft brewery when the Old Brewery was redeveloped in the early 2000s. I presume it's the 'Brains Craft' range that will continue to be made on the current site while SA, Dark, Rev James etc move to Ocean Park.

I don't think craft beer was a 'thing' back then or at least was not mainstream.

I quite like the Brewery Quarter but one element that I think is really poor is the building fronting St Mary Street. I think it's a missed opportunity to create a landmark entrance to the BQ. It's just a bit crap.

I agree with that, although I think the original Victorian frontage had disappeared decdes before the redevelopment.

Looks like demolition is starting next month. Didn't expect this to start so soon.

Some of those buildings are just dreadful aren't they? No sense in hanging around with demolishing them, although I kind of like the grain silo, shame nothing can be done with it.

I like the office building image we've seen though. I really hope we get something similar to that when the planning permission comes out.

Hopefully, as more and more new buildings are completed in the central square/quay area, it will be less of a relocation program for Cardiff based buildings and/or the public sector, and instead, will become a much more lucrative prospect for foreign direct investment.

If I was a board member of large businesses I would find what is happening in Cardiff very impressive. The new CBD area of central square/quay is going to be of very high quality and I'm excited.

Does anyone know if they have put up a schedule of when each building is gong to be demolished/constructed like they have for Central Square?

P.S first-time poster here, I just love when new, modern/futuristic (https://www.flickr.com/photos/8761770@N05/sets/72157673221716264) buildings change the face of Cardiff!
