Yes I've noticed a bit more activity and I'm wondering if this means at least 1 of the proposed buildings may get underway soon? Also I've heard a rumour that some of the residential developments will be getting underway in sept. Looks like we'll have to keep watching that space!! :)

This is good to hear :-) I work near by and was getting slightly suspicious of the lack of any activity on the site for the past few months, and was starting to think things had stalled! I'm glad (hopefully) my pessimism was unfounded!

Planning Committee on 15th June is deciding on 2 residential plots for central quay. Part of phase 2. First block is 400 apartments, tallest element 29 floors. Second block is 340 apartments. I assume phase 1 is the multi story and ledger office block ?

More here.

https://www.insidermedia.com/news/wales/job-creating-developments-at-landmark-site-set-for-approval

Two full planning applications relating to the second phase of the landmark Central Quay development on the former Brains brewery site in Cardiff have been recommended for approval.

Commercial property developer Rightacres is seeking permission to bring forward two plots located to the north and south of the site's landmark brewery building and chimney.

The wider location has been cleared of previous development and is now vacant.

In relation to plot one, to the north of the historic Brewhouse building, approval is sought for a mixed-use development comprising 402 residential apartments and almost 9,000 sq ft of commercial floorspace. This is alongside landscaping, parking and other infrastructure, including part of a new 'boulevard' access road and the 6,000 sq ft Chimney Square.

The scheme comprises four connected blocks of varying heights, with the main central structure the tallest element at 29 storeys.

Fronting the square is a double height plinth which will provide commercial floorspace connected to the public realm, with two communal roof terraces located above.

During construction, this element of the project is expected to support 427 gross direct full-time equivalent (FTE) jobs alongside 581 spin-off FTE jobs.

To the south of the Brewhouse, planning permission is sought for 316 residential apartments and about 14,000 sq ft of commercial space, along with another 16,000 sq ft square. This will be called Central Quay Square and feature a water body feature with a zig-zagged shared cycle and footpath through the middle.

This element of the development comprises four blocks rising to a maximum height of 24 storeys.

Good news everyone! It looks like we've got really movement on the site. It appears they're prepping the ground for piling.

At last! piling starts at central quay. I'm friends with a watkin-jones employee who said that they'll be camped there for 5yrs! plenty to do converting this area into a new city centre mini-district :)
