The comments on that page! XD

The few parking spots relative to the number of apartments should encourage more people to take public transport and bikes, but public transport and the infrastructure need to improve

The comments section should come with a disclaimer for your mental health, I avoid it these days, but WOL includes them for the clickbait luddites foaming at the mouth!

You don't encourage people to use mass transit, cycle or walk by making car travel more convenient. This is why I was pretty annoyed with Castle Street being opened to all again as it just backs down to the dinosaur car lobby. I'm sure in the next 5-10 years Castle Street will be closed to car travel again though as the CO2 levels will only increase again there but I digress.

I read the comments section more for comedic value than anything else these days.

Exactly, it is right in the city centre - precisely the kind of location that requires fewer parking spaces!

Why is the tallest tower 29 floors?! Why not 30, Just winds up a tower geek honestly

It just feels a little unambitious to me, go for 40 floors or something at least. Don't get me wrong, I'd prefer the several towers in the late 20s that we are getting than nothing, but there's a real chance on this site to make a statement I think.

Hi Kyle - Back home in Wales!! :) have you had your walk around yet? what d'you think?

Anyway regarding your post... the image below (from planning App DAS) shows the two towers of phase 1 and 2 at central quay - but also shown but not 'highlighted' is phase 3 & 4 (presumably) which are towers of 29 and 42 storeys. So there would appear to be a tower planned at around the 115m height in the pipeline ;) we'll see!!

I hope so Paul!

Flying back Thursday, first time in a year, been a tough couple of years to be an expat. Possibly moving back next year, we'll see.

The planning app for the Phase 2 residential is on the Cardiff County Council website.

I have to say it's very disappointing. The designs look outdated already and even in the renders look really poor quality. There seems to be very little ambition and given the way that Phase 1 has been designed the whole scheme is likely to be incredibly disjointed.

The buildings look a bit like the Bridge Street student tower which - in my opinion - is one of the worst new buildings in Cardiff. Its not quite as bad as Ty Pont Haearn but there again what is?

It's not surprising that Pahse 2 looks like Bridge Street as the architects are Rio who I think designed that tower. I recall the renders were much better than the reality which is like some sort of Tetris/Lego nightmare, none of which bodes well for Central Quay.

The only hope is that building of Pahse 2 will be delayed for so long that a completely different design will be brought forward in a few years.

Agreed, the design on the upper part of the tower in particular is terrible. It's a shame as most of Central Square is really well designed (apartment blocks of the Interchange Building aside).

The issue will be that I don't think that the council have powers to refuse permission based on design alone which I've always found frustrating.

Let's hope it gets changed at some point in the process.

Lots more activity on central Quay site. I work near it and there's been a build up of supplies peoples and you can here the occasional machine going off on the site. Hopefully some real presence there soon. Also I heard they want to make a start on the new multi storey car park soon so likely see ground broke this year?
