I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't get started until next decade, or gets cancelled altogether at this rate...

I don't think the scheme is likely to be cancelled or delayed for too long, there's a shortage of new office space in Cardiff so I'm sure the Cardiff met space can be repurposed to offices.

I noticed there is some heavy plant on site when I went past the other day.

My understanding is that since Rightacres have failed to deliver parking spaces for the BBC in the interchange building on time, part of the brewery site will become a temporary BBC staf car park. I also hear that we might finally get some news on the new bus station this week.

It's been confirmed that part of Brains will be a temporary car park for the BBC staff, fully covered by Rightacres because of the failure to deliver the bus interchange on time. No doubt this will delay the construction of Central Quay.

This scheme is far from cancelled. Cardiff is in short supply of grade a office space and there's still a shortage of flats, PRS schemes seem to be the next boom. The multi story will obviously follow through. I don't see any issue with the proposed Cardiff Met building being changed to more offices, if anything it's a good thing because we don't get any student accommodation in this development.

Just noticed new BMW show room on penarth road. Guess this means they are knocking down the one by the brewery.

^ Yes they are. I take my car to the one in town and they were hoping to have transferred over by the end of the year.

Central Quay website shows that a residential tower is planned for that site. (bottom right tower)

It also appears to show a walkway over the central station platforms?

They often show a walkway in the future of Cardiff central but it never seems to make sense as there would need to be large increase of height to the north and south building to allow it to happen especially now the over head wires are in.

What to do about the shortcomings of our dear old Hauptbahnhof seems to be a perennial problem. A wide bridge across the top would solve most of the circulation problems (see Reading for example) but the difficulty is getting from a bridge down to ground level - there's almost no room to play with.
