I'd imagine they'll get it up pretty soon.

Photos of Cardiff are going to resemble some serious tower crane porn in the not too distant future.

How many cranes are there?

Bridge street x 1
Central square x 4
Capital quarter x 3 (soon to be 4)
Fitzalan court x 2
St Andrews lane x 1
Bayscape x 2

Is that right?

Custom House will be a big bastard too! It will have to be tied back to the structure (too tall to be free-standing), but it will have a base at the same level as the main pile cap.

Only one at Capital Quarter for number 3 at the moment, although I'm sure one will go up for number 4 soon, then for the Herbert Street tower. The cranes for Capital Quarter student housing the other side of numbers 1 and 2 have been down for a while, it almost looks finished now with most of the scaffolding down.

What is happening at custom house?

Edit: this is the 42 storey Watkins Jones build. When is this starting?

The design has re-started and there are ongoing discussions with various prospective sub-contractors. There's also a lot to sort out with the utility diversions, Network Rail approvals etc. It's happening, but there's quite a bit to get through before the excavators can turn up on site. Hopefully there won't be any further hicups.

I meant what was custom house? Then I realised it was the other WJ development.
