Why is the tower so much smaller than the Charles Street tower. I thought there was only 6ft difference in finished height ?

How much shorter is it then? I know it's going to be 26 floors.

Maybe the ceiling height of each floor is a little bit shorter?

The crane doesnt' look the height of the one at Bridge St - on looking at the planning app again maybe this tower will be 78ish metres and therefore about 3 metres shorter than bridge st - so about 10ft shorter.

Yeah, I am looking from Rumney hill where you can see the whole of town including cranes.

The one tower is a fair bit smaller than the other. It is just I thought they were going to be the same height.

Neither crane looks as high as Capital tower, slightly under from Rumney hill

I think you are being duped by perspective there, Capital tower is a fair bit closer to Rumney than these two cranes. I would say that the Charles Street crane cab is easily 20m higher than Helmont house which is listed at 58m, you can guage this from the photo on the Charles Street thread or the banner photo on this site. Capital is 80m. Both cranes are taller than altolusso (72m). The Charles Street crane cab is slightly higher than the Herbert street, although the arm of the Herbert street one may be longer.

Does the top of the building go up to the cab or above ?

I'd suspect that the building wouldn't go higher than the cab as that would cause visibility issues for the operator.

Its a big old crane, I work in Capital Quarter and if the cranes there are anything to go by, the crane driver (??) won't need to use the ladder to get down he will just step onto the floor, literally feet between cab and top floor of No 3!!

The crane is coming down on Capital Quarter number 3.

On to windows and cladding for this one now.

(Couldn't find the thread for this sorry!)
