Most people are scared of planes to some extent. They just tolerate them, and you can't actually feel how fast you're going. 800mph over land in a vacuum would be absolutely terrifying for most people. If people are scared of roller coasters then they won't go anywhere near the Hyperloop. The claustrophobia alone would be enough to put people off, let alone the speed.

Unless you can see out if the window, there's no such thing as a sense of speed, you can only sense acceleration. The fact that you're travelling at 800mph is not really relevant unless you change direction.

Cardiff-Glasgow did not make the cut, which doesn't surprise me. Although i am surprised that both routes are so Scotland-centric. I'm still surprised there's no London-Paris-Rhine Ruhr route - surely going via 3 megacities would be a better investment?

So what's made the cut?

Liverpool - Newcastle - Edinburgh (which surprises me a lot)

Glasgow - Manchester - Birmingham - London (which makes more sense.)

Surprised there's not a proposal for Plymouth - Exeter - Bristol - Swindon - Reading - London tbh. No East-West connection for the South of England.

However as much as I critiqued the Cardiff-Glasgow route, it would have been lovely to have a major infrastructure project which doesn't involve London. The Cardiff - Bristol - Birmingham - Manchester - Sheff - Glasgow route sounded like it served a great amount of population. And this is speaking in the sense that the Hyperloop idea ever becomes a viable mode of transport.

In this ever-increasing London and SE bubble, and the Northern Powerhouse starting to make progress, I think its vital for Cardiff, Newport and Bristol to start working together for infrastructure links (So long as Bristol does not end up as the city with the sole benefit).

The Hyperloop is very much still in its testing phase right now, primarily in America, so it would be foolish to make any assumptions about its feasibility, or lack thereof. I'm a bit saddened that Cardiff has been neglected in the plan, but it's still early days; this thing probably won't come to fruition until next decade or later.
