Yes indeed what a shame! 'glass needle 2' me thinks! hopefully customhouse st wont be 'glass needle 3'!! and if anyone doesn't know my reference to glass needle - well lets say it was the first genuinely quite tall building that never happened, but kept threatening to!! :| You'd think I'd be over it by now!

Just passed the bayscape office and there appears to be some outline images of the next phase.

Didn’t get any pictures but looks like another block the same but a bit taller with 11 stories.

Seems a good quality scheme but no tower I’m afraid.

No surprise sadly

I'm still really curious what happened to the hotel occupier lined up, maybe they didn't see Cardiff as a fit at all. Also, as much as it's a nice riverfront location, you'd think that the Inner Harbour or City Centre were better options for any major new hotel anyway.

Yes it's a shame - at the time when the hotel tower was planned it was an exciting prospect! Maybe hotel plans scuppered because the 6 star hotel (with heli-pad) planned for Cardiff Pointe is about to get underway...

I remember enquiring at the Cardiff Pointe office many moons ago! The lady who was enthusiastically starting to sell the first apartments explained to me, that the difference from 5 to 6 star hotel that was originally proposed for the site was the inclusion of a heli pad! Mind you that's not the only thing missing from the original vision of Cardiff Pointe - still, maybe these things just take a while to happen! You never know we may get a 6 star heli-padded hotel before we get a bus station yet!

If Bayscape phase 2 is just 11 floors, I can live with that; if it matches the quality of phase 1. Filling the gap between Bayscape and Victoria Wharf will complete that riverside stretch. As for the rest of the ISV, let's at least get some more housing built to fill in the wastelands behind the pool, and it would be nice if Cardiff Council could give us a clue about their intentions for the Toys R Us site.

(Re the Burj al Arab - a stunning building on the outside, but the interior is just horrid - gives new meaning to gaudy...)

All, I can advise that Phase II will be 13 floors and that plans are developing well. I am happy to email some CGIs to someone that knows my email address should you wish to post them. We are really pleased with Phase I. We still need to dress the roof garden / podium between the blocks but otherwise we are happy with our new "home" for Cardiff Marina. Phase II will expand on the riverside walk approach with more retail, restaurants and a public square at the arrival poi8nt of the Pont-Y-Werin bridge.
