Bit hypocritical, given many of your naive & twisted political outbursts.

That might have been a fair point if you had said: "Bit hypocritical, given many of your political outbursts." But who are you or anyone else to say that they are "naive & twisted"? One can comment and agree to disagree without making it personal or provocative.

These off-topic slanging matches are getting awfully boring.

Have it on good authority that the decision to scrap the electrification beyond Cardiff was taken much earlier this year - but was deliberately concealed until after the general election.

That wouldn't shock me. But then, I doubt that there was ever a serious intention to do so, despite what David Cameron said.

Are you for real? What's it like up on that exalted pedestal?
Like most on social media, it comes as a utter shock that there are others who have different view points.

anyway back to slagging off the UK rail infrastructure....

Alun Cairns hit the nail on the head this morning when he said Electrification to Swansea would not knock one minute off the journey time.
A complete waste of money unless the line signalling is also up-graded. The Diesel/Electric bi-mode class 800 trains have a top speed of 100 mph when using just the diesel system, speeds that people in Wales can only dream about on their railways.

Do you even read posts properly before commenting? You've quoted me as saying "One can comment and agree to disagree". There I am acknowledging that there can be a difference of opinion, yet you imply that I'm one of those who because shocked when confronted by those with different view points!

I don't have a problem with people disagreeing with me, but when they express that diasgreement there is no need to acuse me of being naive or twisted, or making any other personal jibes. Do you not understand the difference? I know you have a problem with the Welsh language, you've made that explicity clear, do also have similar difficulties with the English language?

How is that alternative vision for Wales coming along? You're taking your time so it must be a good one. Might actually bring things back on topic. Or would you rather continue with this playground-style nonesence?

I believe you kicked this one off with another one of your tiresome anti Tory jibes, typical of some Welsh who think they have a God given right to hand outs from central Government and UK tax payers. Wales gets more than its fair share of subsidy.

My idea for Wales would be to get the GVA and productivity higher and increase inward investment by folk getting up of their ar*es and setting up more SME's rather than always wanting extra money to protect their culture and easy way of life.
Some here think if only they had a few more Quangos and an extra 40 AMs then Wales would be an economic power house.

When I heard this news story on the radio, I just knew where they were from!
https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2017/jul/20/man-engaged-in-tough-sports-convicted-for-disability-benefit

Everything from Tidal Lagoons to Motor Racing Circuit seems to require huge amounts of UK tax payers money, it would be like London asking for the Shard to be publicly financed.

Back to the Rails, maybe private industry in Wales could finance the rest of the electrification, I forgot there isn't any west of Cardiff :D

Oh dear! You really do make me laugh on times Zach. If you believe those comments are relevant to me and my views, then I think you'll find that you're very much mistaken.

Yes, I've criticised the Tories because on times they deserve criticism. I've also criticised Labour, Plaid, UKIP, Greens, SNP, BNP, the EU etc. Point of fact, it wasn't that long ago that someone was calling me political naive, after I dared question what Labour had done for Wales after decades of support. But people tend to remember the comments that suit them, usually when it's something that strikes a nerve.

So, an anti-Tory jibe has got your back up on this occasion? Well, well. We have to put up with post after post of your boring, predictable anti-Welsh language bigotry and anti-devolution rants, even when they're not relevant to the topic under discussion. But hey, you’re being so intellectual and witty when you do it!

Respond by all means, but I do not wish to waste any more of my time with you.

Surely the problem is that now, because one link in the chain will not be electrified, they have to operate hybrid trains. This means that even on the electrified sections the trains are going to be heavier, slower and more costly to operate. The entire project is a botched job because of stupid penny pinching decisions. Even if they decide to complete the electrification in the future, it'll be too late as they'll have already ordered the trains. It's a farce.
