I imagine it might be a sort of immersive video presentation of the history and geography/scenery of Wales - a bit like "the Malta Experience": https://themaltaexperience.com/.

Unlike Malta, there could be some political debate about if/how to cover some of the history - e.g. conquest of Wales, Owain Glyndwr, the Acts of Union, etc. (although probably not to the same extent as in Scotland).

I just came across a slide presentation that's been used in some recent webinars.

The 'This is Wales' attraction is described as "a 5D flight experience". There's also reference to a "WMC Academy" and a "new contemparary art museum" neither of which I've heard being referenced before.

I find the 2027-2030 window to demolish the Red Dragon centre a bit disappointing. The scheme for a walkway from the Pierhead looks good and focuses on the arena. Will be a shame for it to be hidden behind the Red Dragon centre for a couple of years, maybe it's lease issue?

I'm guessing they're thinking of something like the Soarin' over California ride in Disneyland. At least I hope so since that would be super cool, and a great way to show off our landscape to tourists in Cardiff.

Does the contemporary art museum have anything to do with the Welsh government's plans for an art museum on the level of the current national museum in Cardiff, or is it a smaller Cardiff-only initiative?

Edit: reading that slideshow - looks like they're planning to move the Cardiff Story Museum to the Bay? What are they going to do with the Old Library building then?

I think that building looks rather cheap and nasty, with little engagement with the outside. Will be good to see plans to see if that's actually true.

Would prefer a different material for the external walls too.

You can't have the unique architecture of the WMC and then this Black metal box behind it.

Imagine any of the aerial's of the bay and cardiff?!..... It's going to be worse than the uncompleted back of the ice rink!

Agreed. It looks like it’s taken heavy inspiration from the new ice rink, which isn’t a compliment! Something this important and prominent should be a landmark piece of architecture. Not another functional box with the only discerning feature being the “Arena” title plastered over the front in bus station font. We’ve been waiting for this for over a decade. Make a statement! The new arena in Swansea is coming together nicely and will look much more impressive than this.

It instantly reminded me of the temporary ABBA arena they are building in London, but having compared the two, that would be unfair on the ABBA arena.
