It might have some interest for industrial heritage but that existing building has very little architectural merit. The new building is a bit of faux history - Cardiff doesn't really have a history of that sort of warehouse/industrial building. But its a decent addition and will suit its surroundings (even if our view of suitability is driven by building styles elsewhere).
One of the issues with Cardiff's history is that our industrial buildings aren't that attractive or convertible, in general. The warehouses of Liverpool Docks, London docks, and the old mills of Manchester, could be converted into hotels, offices, apartments. Cardiff's history as a coal port meant we had far fewer warehouses - you can hapilly leave coal in the open, in a way you can't for foodstuffs, wool/cotton/textiles/clothing, furniture, china, etc. And the main industrial activity in Cardiff itself developed later (when more utilitarian buildings were built) and was largely heavy industry (e.g. steel) which requires buildings unsuitable for conversion to non-industrial uses.
