Normally I'd have some sympathy with that. What I was suggesting though was that with feeder restored, we could revert to the original street names, Edward Tce on the east side of the waterway and Pembroke Tce on the west as they were named prior to culverting in the 1950s.

Why are the names from that particular point in history "better" ? All each name is doing is referencing a particular pointer place in history, none are more valid than another.

I'm puzzled as to why you've put the word better in quotation marks as if it was included in the post you're responding to. It isn't.

Two names are better than one though simply for ease of direction.

If what is currently one very wide street is to again become two streets divided by a water barrier, it's more convenient for those two streets to have different names when it comes to locating an address or giving directions. Since the historic names exist, why not readopt them rather than going to the trouble of inventing new ones?

This will trigger anyone who thinks Cardiff is still a village.

by the same developers that built glossop hall scheme just down the road witch is a 600+ student accommodation building . Its big and decent quality at low level but if this is going to be one of the 'tallest' building in cardiff then i worry it could be of low quality for such prime location:/ but hey lets hope not .

They may as well demolish the fronts of these buildings now, people wanted the whole structures saved not just the frontage. Will be interesting to see the plans though especially how they will incorporate the frontages.

People wanted the businesses saved above all. It's great that Maderia has thrived (pre-Covid) on St Mary Street but the other businesses are sadly long gone.

Isn’t there supposed to be a master plan for the whole area? I’ve only seen drawings of the proposed uncovering of the dock feeder under Churchill Way.

I’ve never been that sentimental about the old buildings and don't really see much benefit in maintaining the terrace facades unless they form part of a coherent master plan. I’d also like to see A3 use behind the facades, not just have them incorporated into the residential development like the New College at Altoluso
