Has nothing happened for a week?

Just sayin...

Think this is the longest gap between posts on this forum ever!

A couple of things from the planning apps that may be of interest:

1. A "collectors boutique" is opening on Churchill Way, which will sell "Imitation paintings from master painters worldwide, limited jewelleries and ornaments, ancient Egyptian sculptures and handmade antiques, sculptures and wooden artistic pieces." The unit was formally an office. So the high street isn't always dead?

2. Two new shops are opening in St Davids, a phone shop called "Smart Phones", and "Morphe", which is a beauty brand.

But thats about it.. the Committee next week is all boring but contentious small scale developments.

I always find this site more active during proposals and less active during construction, lots being built at the moment

Work is heavily underway in Central Quay, with the BMW dealership vacating the building by the crossing into Grangetown.
Also, the crane in Central Square is still yet to be fully built. But the building on John Street is coming along nicely though. Still waiting on any form of news regarding the record-breaking tower on Customhouse Street.

I had a bimble round the city centre at lunchtime today and there was plenty happening. John Street is progressing remarkably quickly now. Premier Inn has substantial work going on right up to the 8th floor. Bradley Court still just foundations, but the nearby Centre for Student Life is almost structurally complete. And workmen were putting the finishing touches to new hoardings around the brewery site, showing large images of the proposals. So 2020 should turn out to be an interesting year!

Yes quiet indeed on here, but as mentioned, plenty of construction going on! As work clearing the Brains Brewery proceeds, it's great to see the renders and central quay advertising appear on the hoardings at that site. I think the customhouse st. 'hope tower' is nowhere near happening soon - regretfully :| . So presently Cardiffs hopes of anything at the 100m height rests with the, north of john st development. Maybe we'll hear about plans for guildford crescent/canal qtr relatively soon with the optimistic hope of something spectacular!! Anyway one things for sure, you are looking in on the right place for news and views on Cardiff developments!!

And the latest St David's letting plan is now published so surprised nobody has posted a critique yet...

I'm curious about this one because I think Howells, who occupied the building, own it (please correct me if I'm wrong) and moved in readiness for the project. They are also involved in the project I think.

I wonder if it's being reworked design wise to be a residential tower instead?

Not particularly relevant to whether or not fitzalan tower actually commences, but the building that it would replace (Hallinans house) is currently being used by Sanderson who are constructing the Easy Hotel next door.
