Just a little message to all that look in here. All of our lives have temporarily changed - Cardiff, Wales, UK, Europe, Planet Earth!! if you are human (plenty of robots have tried to join this forum! :? ) and reading this, then your life compared to just one month ago has changed dramatically. We don't really know how this will be resolved or indeed when, already we have many fatalities in the UK, and so much worse in Italy and Spain. My usual concerns about whether the customhouse tower will ever actually happen etc. seem a little trivial at this moment! Nevertheless, unlike your local boozer, gym, club etc. this forum remains open! Please share thoughts on this particular subject on this thread. But whether you do or not - try to stay safe and do whatever you can to keep that virus away from you! Take Care!

Staying open?

Keep up the good work Paul. I follow this forum closely to stay in touch with my home - even more important when I locked down in Milan!!

Is construction in Cardiff still proceeding as normal at the moment? I live in Pembrokeshire but follow the forum daily.

Construction activity is carrying on all over the country, where people are fit and able to do so.

The reality for contractors is that unless the government orders them to close down (then they can involk force majeure under their contracts), then they are contractually bound to maintain their programme milestones.

Crossrail's Bond Station site has closed temporarily for a deep clean, but otherwise, sites across London are carrying on and I'm personally still heading into the office as my clients needs my design information.

Regarding construction situation, well it seems to be proceeding at the moment. Work progressing on... interchange, bradley court, john st offices, parkgate hotel as of yesterday when I had a wander around the city centre ghost town! also at capital quarter hopefully work proceeding, but maybe early finish on friday so it was quiet yesterday when I passed by. It'll be interesting to see what happens next week as we settle in to the 'new normal'. Anyway I'll keep you posted here :) oh and my flickr pages here: https://www.flickr.com/gp/8761770@N05/Cye5Q6

Cheers Jacob. For sure when this threat is behind us it won't just be business as normal for quite some time. I don't know what lessons will be learned but let's hope that plenty are. As a person with a generally positive outlook on "life the universe and everything"! (yes the answer is 42 ;) ) I'm wondering if this nightmare could be a wake up call that those in power on our abused planet will have to listen to and a more balanced sustainable outlook could result. We'll see, but in the meantime the worst is yet to hit us here, so to one and all reading... take care!

Great photos of our present situation and photos so good that I had to look at the other photos when things were 'normal' and excellent city centre and beyond photos - superb! :)
