Both Rapports and the arena look very different.

It' s all dependent on when the new arena opens in the bay, as the Utilita Arena can then close and be demolished. I think this is all still very much in its infancy though.

Work is finally underway on the former Chinese on Churchill Way presumably to turn it into this:

They've removed the giant red sign panels and there seems to be work going on inside.

This looks decent and will only further attract more footfall to this part of town. I still think the Capitol site needs a complete redevelopment and in doing so better alignment between Queen Street station and QS itself. Still, happy with something else happening!

A jacket potato shop has opened next to Pulse called Jacky P, seemed quite busy when I walked past.

The hoarding's down and it doesn't look like there's a lot of work left on The Cardiff Arms. Few weeks at most.

Would be very interested to see a photo of this. I can't help but feel they might miss the mark... based on the doors that were put in recently.

I hope they do well.

Any news of the old Chapel? That's been empty for a good while and is looking pretty untidy.

I've heard nothing - but I hope something is done with it. The interior brickwork is stunning and has survived two very good and sympathetic conversions - first to offices and then to a pub/restaurant.

Nonconformist chapels are the closest thing we have to a "Welsh school" or architecture and good examples are getting rarer all the time. There were once around a dozen in the city centre and now only two (Tabernacl and City URC) are still open. It will be interesting to see what happens to Pembroke Terrace (the one on Churchill Way) and the old Bethany on the Howells site.

It was owned by City Pub Group (I used to work for them until last year) and that has now passed on to Young's since they bought the company. As far as I'm aware, the site is being marketed for sale.

I walk past on my way to work and when they initially hung the doors they were quite bare but the shopfitters have been adding all the trimmings the last week or so and they look far more pubby, if that's a word.
