Well this one is taking quite some time - but they are almost up to level 1! Apparently once level 1 is fully achieved the plan is to go up a floor a week. Whilst progress has seemed slow - work at the site is constant and if they manage that floor a week then it should top out june (ish) next yr. As a matter of geeky interest :geek: this will be the tallest building in Cardiff at 84metres. However with watkin-jones due to start on apartments at central quay in january and the tallest being 90.5metres will the Curran Rd development ever hold that title? - the race is on!!

Crazy that we still don't have a 100+ m building yet

Totally agree with you DJ - Cardiff is becoming a relatively high rise city but not managing +100m is disappointing. Let's face it, it's unlikely to happen with an office block so residential or mixed use is our only hope? A few possibilities are in the pipeline - Central Quay and Harlech court? but we'll have to wait some time for those. Still, ever the optimist some developments may pop up if the many build to rent trend proves to be very popular here?

Is this really going to be the tallest building in Cardiff or 2nd when the other one is built, because the crane is no where near 85m high

The crane will be jacked up further, I believe.
It should be the tallest for a while, until Central Quay overtakes it.
It's about time we got a 100m tower.
Still a few possibilities - maybe a future phase of Central Quay.
Maybe John Street will make another appearance.
Onwards to 150 metres then !!...but probably not in my lifetime...

Yes, oh to get 100m building in this city! and then onto 150m! I believe that is the height required for a building to be termed a skyscraper. Anyway the one you didn't mention was at harlech court, https://www.draycottgroup.co.uk/future-developments also what will happen at the site of the proposed and approved custom house st 132m?
Going back to Gramercy tower - I'm wondering if it never actually becomes cardiff's tallest, as central quay phase 1 could overtake it?

It's becoming rather likely at this rate. CQ phase 1 is shooting up, whereas Gramercy Tower is still sitting below 10 stories at the core.
