Rapports have a track record when it comes to demolishing existing buildings and then leaving the sites vacant. The old Vulcan site is still empty after the best part of a decade. I'm not holding my breath.

Totally agree I thought after the non activity following vulcan demolition we could expect better from the bulldozing of guildford crescent. Still, no doubt something will get built there - eventually

It would be so nice to see something else other than a surface level car park on a site which saw the Vulcan removed.

Although hope they're a bit better than the plans in 2007!

The main problem with that "current" design is that I can still see Ty Pont Haearn between the 2 towers.

IIRC the original plan for that site was 2 more buildings similar to Ty Pont Haearn, i.e. multi-storey carparks on the first few floors with flats/apartments/student accommodation above. So maybe we were lucky that they weren't built as well!

I don't know if there is still hope for Guildford crescent but its still receiving planning permission updates from the Council. I don't know if that means there is still hope. But I'm sure if it was an outright lost cause there would be no correspondence.

Is there an update on this?

I would really hate for this to end up being a dud development, seeing as they have destroyed an area cultural and historical significance.

If not, the developers and council need to be held accountable. Disgraceful really.
