I've been informed by a little birdie! that work on this one will start next month. This development to be the tallest structure in the city, 13m or a whopping :) 43 foot taller than the current 'title' holder.

Amazing. Looking forward to this one, especially as the first building in Cardiff to reach over 300ft.

Just need to beat that building down West now to take the crown

 Yes indeed this city needs that 'Welsh tallest' crown! (especially after this seasons double eh! ) Maybe resi at central quay is our best hope? mind you looks like we'll have to wait a while for that as not a single brick has been laid there yet. Or Watkin-Jones at customhouse st? In the meantime it'll be great to see this one at Guidford Crescent go up!

Great to see this start soon after all the issues at the site.

Talking of inactive tall building sites, has there been any news on the plot next to the Easy Hotel? I guess the student resi is off the cards, so would be a nice spot for a tall apartment tower.

I hope it ends up looking like that. There's been too many cop outs with building going up nowadays, looking bland and dreary instead of modern, futuristic, and green...

Is there a planning approval for this yet? That image looks great, hopefully that is what will get built!

Is this currently being constructed? I haven’t seen any photos but a quick google seems to indicate that ‘construction is continuing throughout 2023’!

As yet there is no sign of life on the site, no reports of anything either AFAIK.

Whilst this development may well proceed :?: , I believe money issues have it on hold. It's a crying shame if nothing happens at this site! I mean I know it's obviously not as simple as this... but it would be surely better to have all ready to go and approved and then demolish buildings. Whilst Ty Madeira have re located (although I preferred them at Guildford Crescent) Thai House have ceased to be and I haven't heard that Gwdihw have reappeared or are likely to do so anywhere either  Oh well we'll see and keep looking out for activity at the site - which is what I do and it depresses me whenever I wander by :(

A cyclical as it may be, a vacant and clear site is far more valuable than one with tenants and buildings that you may have difficulty getting permission to demolish. The landowners would have been mad to take the risk of waiting for the developer to get their ducks in a row.
