It's so good to see these buildings being brought back into use, hopefully this has been spurred on by the Exchange Hotel development. As we've all discussed before, this area of Butetown could be a jewel in Cardiff's crown. Let's hope it actually happens this time.

I would love to see this scheme come off, even one of the buildings would be good. They had the Hampton by Hilton proposal that just went nowhere last didn't they? It's a bit like the Custom House site being discussed on the other thread, it just keeps popping up every few years and is going nowhere. Let's hope it's sorted this time.

Brilliant news. I hope it actually happens.

Things seem to be looking up for some of the derelict buildings down the bay, between this, the railway station and of course the Coal Exchange.

I'm excited for this area of the bay to be regenerated.

The buildings aren't too dissimilar to what you see in cities such as Manchester, and it would've been a great shame to see them rot away.

This all sounds good - gotta get over the 'james st divide'! then the wonders of old Butetown will start being put back on the map! The coal exchange is doing its bit! Plenty of great buildings can start attracting attention again if this momentum continues - fingers crossed eh!

Great news, I hope this comes off if it is done tastefully.

So glad this area is finally getting the regeneration it needs - hopefully the ground floor retail space can be occupied by cafes or independent shops to give the bay something a bit different from the monstrosity that is mermaid quay
