I hope not! That design is ghastly, completely incoherent. I like the height, and the pointy bit, but that's about it.

Nice see we are finally hitting 30 floors in some of these proposed towers, but not a fan of the colour personally.

I also wonder if we are ever going to go much taller and cross 40 or 50 floors over the next ten years or so. Everything seems a little unambitious compared to what is happening elsewhere (not iust on the height). I guess Cardiff isn't as big a city and the demand isn't there, plus supporting infrastructure isn't there yet to deal with the volume of people that come with bigger towers.

Here’s an article from insider media suggesting a larger development in the future on the citrus hotel site.

Good news, that building is very tired and dated now. It should be replaced with a hotel though, as I'm not sure how many BTR apartments Cardiff actually needs. Hotel space is needed, especially during big events.

I think I will miss the Citrus/Big Sleep/Snelling House when it's gone. It is tired and dated, but I think it's a pretty good example of a modernist office block from that era - and by a well renowned local architect. I think it's fairly inoffensive looking though and that means there will unlikely be much call for it to be listed. Unlike something brutalist like the old police HQ in Wrexham.

I like the base of the building very much. It has a sort of "Thunderbirds" 1960s vibe and personally I'd miss it. The block above the plinth though feels very tired. I wonder if it could be re-clad to bring it into the 21st century.

I see what you mean. I think the problem is the contrast between the windows and the jet black spandrel glass. Could probably be improved with different blinds and/or window tint film.

Another quality article from Wales online that incudes the 42 story Custom House building stating it’s on hold and might happen even though only 2 days ago they published the article about the new proposal.

Good to see the former Co-Op site on Crwys Road getting permission for redevelopment for 67 affordable residential units plus a range of uses within the ground floor.
