There is an application in for the demolition and redevelopment of 9 Womamby Street -
http://planning.cardiff.gov.uk/online-a ... APR_119182This is the derelict building next to Clwb and overlooking the courtyard at the back of Revolution. The proposed building looks good - an industrial sort of design rising to 8 stories that will fit in with the rest of the street.
The ground floor and basement are earmarked for A3. However the top 6 floors will be 2 bedroom flats. I worry about this. There was a report in Walesonline yesterday that Fuel had been served with a Noise Abatement Notice from the Council due to a complaint from one nearby flat dweller. I'm sure that the flats will have good sound proofing and I'm sure they will appeal to younger people who want to be amongst it. But they will still need to sleep. A few complaints and all of a sudden the 'scene' that has built up in Womamby St is jeopardised. Clwb, Revs etc are open until 4am and beyond on the weekend - I'm not sure how that will be conduicive to residential in the area.
