From Pauls pic it looks like a pig of a building, not one i particularly want to see finished.

Looks like Southgate house is getting a slight makeover. New ground floor extension, more trees etc.

Good, hopefully it ties in with the style of the building and doesnt take up too much of the public realm (and they dont cut down the mature trees!!!!!)

The trees are staying, but three new ones to be planted on wood street. Looks like the pavement around the whole building to be redone. However, not too sure about the extension. It may work. Like the green roof idea though.

Had to go to Bristol today by train and noticed a tall central core next to a taller crane - did my research and this is what is being built

Image

looks a bit like John St. phase 2 to me, more colourfully clad and minus the rooftop forest!! anyway as a matter of interest this will weigh in at 98.4 m / 323 ft apparently Bristols discouragement of taller building is now over. Petty point being, that our two closest city 'rivals' now have taller than us  Will Watkin-Jones ever save the day for us?

Ugliest building! Golgate House, Westgate street car park and many others look the other way lol. Just because its tall doesnt make it ugly,

Also 'Student tower marketed to Chinese nationals requests change of use as Global Pandemic sends their customers home' there, fixed the title!

A 90+ bed student accommodation scheme which had permission to build on Brigantine Place has put in amended plans to change the scheme to a 77 bed serviced accommodation scheme. The proposed land is a few hundred feet or so from the horrific Zenith building.

To be fair, every city has its share of ugly buildings.

On another note, I think 25 story buildings are pretty low rise these days. I would say 30 stories is the new 25.

Anyway, I think Cardiff have missed a few chances to raise above the 30 mark, Admiral being a key point. They should have hit 40 stories and could have had a bar/restaurant at the top, open to everyone after a certain time. Shame really
